Mora: Brownie Fudge

This review marks a very exciting moment.

My journey to Mora was a humble one. The friend I was staying with was with a girl and I didn’t want to “cock block,” as the kids say. So, I found myself typing in the Google search bar for a quick sweet fix. There were a few options, one of them being Farr’s. Though I’ve already reviewed their hot fudge sundae and knew they would’ve taken care of me, a new adventure seemed appealing. I scrolled down to the second option on the search results: Mora. It was nearby and the pictures looked pretty, so I was hooked.

I managed to get there at the same time as an entire family, so I had plenty of time to process the menu. I needed the time because it was huge. Somehow, though, it felt familiar. It reminded me of the gelato shops in Italy and their huge variety of flavors; including seasonal flavors, Mora had a whopping 45 options.

All flavors were protected in chic metal containers; how the workers know where each flavor is, I will never know (I’m sure there are labels but I like to pretend it’s an intensive memory game for them).

Anyway, enough about regular ice cream. It’s time for some FUDGE.

Quality of Toppings:

No fancy stuff here: whipped cream, walnuts and a cherry. Some big points were won in the nut department, though: the woman helping me asked if I wanted walnuts or peanuts.

Nut options? ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Outstanding.

Quality of Fudge:

This is the exciting part. Mora’s fudge is the best I’ve had, maybe ever. I didn’t know a fudge flavor could be so complex. It tasted like melted brownies. I’m still salivating over it. They poured it straight from a hot pot onto the ice cream. I had to work a little bit to get the fudge off my spoon, but the effort was worth it.

Level of Comfort Ordering a Hot Fudge Sundae:

Largely fine. The only issue was the woman helping me asked what toppings I wanted. When I asked her to elaborate, she said I could have, “hot fudge, whipped cream, nuts or a cherry.” I then asked, “can I have all of those?” She confirmed I could. It didn’t have to be that hard.

Would I Rather Get a McDonald’s Sundae?

This sundae was like $6, which is extremely reasonable. So yes, I would choose Mora’s liquid brownie fudge over McD’s.

Final Score: 8.8/10
